If you want to capture video of what stuff looks like when you throw the camcorder and don't care if it breaks, then get the Aiptek.

If you want a real camcorder that you want to use a for a few years, get the Canon ZR900. Note: as a miniDV tape based camcorder, you will transfer video using firewire. Connect a firewire cable to the DV port of the camcorder and the firewire port of your computer. If your computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully your computer has an available expansion slot so you can add one. Firewire 400, IEEE1394a, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing. USB will not work - USB-firewire adapter/converters will not work. The ZR900 also has a mic jack that many camcorders do not have (including the AipTek).

Your computer is built for the second camera, the Canon, and includes free video editing software for it . The first camera, the Aiptek, is actually a good camera that records in a format similar to professional camcorders, but if you do not need the HD quality, the Canon is a good deal.

If in doubt, get the Canon. Based on your choices, you will be recording general home video type movies. in that case, the Canon is a better system overall even without the HD quality.
