In the Apple Macintosh environment, iMovieHD will edit the video and iDVD will make the DVDs - and they are both bundled with new Macs... so... um, they are free.

In the Windows environment, MovieMaker cannot deal with HDV or AVCHD... Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere usually float to the top for editors... WinDVD seems to take care of the DVD burning piece.

There will be differences and possible additional requirements if the camcorder is either miniDV tape (HDV) or hard disc drive (HDD), flash memory or DVD based AVCHD high definition.</description>
