    Good for what?

It is about the same as any other non-miniDV tape based AVCHD camcorder.

Records to highly compressed AVCHD (MTS) files – what are you planning to edit with? Which editing application?

Lowlight behavior is the same as any of the others (6 lux) from Panasonic, Sony, Canon, JVC.

How do you plan to store video you don’t immediately use but want to keep?

Using flash memory is better than an internal hard drive – but not as good a miniDV tape… No mic jack and likely no manual audio control. I’d take a Canon HV30 or Sony HDR-HC9 over this – no contest. Even for more $.
