Which brand is better for a HD camcorder, and should I get a camcorder with 3CCD or CMOS chips?

Which brand is better for a HD camcorder, and should I get a camcorder with 3CCD or CMOS chips? Also, which format is best, a hard drive camcorder or Mini DV tape?

I will be using the camcorder for independent film.
My budget is from 00 to 00 Australian Dollars.

    Before you decide your imaging chip requirements, you should decide your budget.

    THEN see which camcorders fit your budget.

    Then you will see what the camcorders in that range have in the way of imaging chips.

    DV/HDV file format is "best". Least compression to the video stream and does not have the issues HDD cams have with vibration, altitude, process flow and data recovery. In the consumer camcorder environment, that means miniDV tape. It also means your computer needs to have a firewire port.
