Logging and capturing from Cannon HD camcorder to final cut express?
I am trying to log and capture film footage that i have recorded on my Cannon HD HG20 camcorder onto my mac final cut pro using a USB or fire wire, and although i can watch the footage on the mac, i can’t seem to transfer it onto final cut express in order to edit it. Any help please?!

The Canon HG20 is a consumer grade, hard disc drive based AVCHD/MTS file producing high definition camcorder. It has a USB port. It does not have a DV – or firewire – port, so it is not possible that you copied those files from the camcorder to the Mac using a firewire connection.
You did not tell us which Mac or which version of Final Cut you are using. The current version of Final Cut (Express and Pro) can deal with AVCHD/MTS video only if it is running on an Intel chip based Mac. Prior versions of Final Cut or even the current version of Final Cut running on a PPC based Mac will not work.
Assuming your Mac is Intel CPU based and your version of Final Cut is indeed capable of handling AVCHD/MTS files, it sounds like you have been able to copy the video files to your Mac (over USB)… Launch Final Cut and be sure the "Format" selected for the new project is AVC. When the Final Cut project windows open, just start a new sequence and drag the MTS files to the sequence capture window…
I think you need convert your video format to .mp4 that final cut pro support, Mac Video Converter can convert .mts to .mp4, then import it to final cut pro.
