How do I make my Zune software convert video properly?
I just recently started having this problem, which is whenever I synch video files with the zune software and put them on the Zune, the software acknowledges that they’re on it, but the hardware of the zune does not. I was wondering how do I fix this?
I just recently started having this problem, which is whenever I synch video files, .wmvs formatted for the zune at that, with the zune software, which converts then synchs them to the the Zune, the software acknowledges that they’re on it, but the hardware of the zune does not. Do what almost everyone else does. Get a converter that will convert the videos first. What you get depends on the videos you are trying to convert. If you are just converting flv files then try Kate’s Video Converter. It is free. You can use Voobys if you are gettin videos from youtube. Otherwise get Super or Handbrake-both are free-to convert DVDs. You can also buy a converter. If they are avi files you can use Windows Movie Maker to convert to wmv with a resolution no larger than 320×240.
I’ve found that Zune will convert any video that is not wmv. I have it syncing a video podcast now that I downloaded from the Marketplace. Because it is in mpeg-4 format Zune is converting.
If you don’t want the converting problems then I would convert them before syncing.
**Edit**
I noticed with the new firmware Zune will reconvert some things for me that previously it wouldn’t do that to. Try a different converter then the one you are using to convert the videos to wmv or try changing the resolution. See if that makes a difference.
Zune only supports the follow video formats:
Windows Media Video (.wmv)
MPEG4 video (m4v, .mp4, or .mov)
H.264 video (.m4v, .mp4, or .mov)

If you have videos that aren’t any of those, you can follow this guide to convert them such as video, dvd movie to the zune video formats.
