Which is the best Canon HD Camcorder to buy?
Lots of buzz about HD10; 20; 30 Flash, Hardrive MinDV- very confused. not looking to break the bank eitehr but insist on HD. What is the best bang for the buck, quality HD Camcorder? Don’t need to record to the web. St8t to HDTV.

Skip hard drives.
Flash memory uses the same file type (AVCHD/MTS) as hard drives buut does not carry the problems HDD cams have – removeable memory, lots fewer issues with vibration and high altitude keep flash memory on the short list. Any of the Canon HF series are worth a look.
The HV30 and HV40 miniDV tape based camcorders are a step above – DV/HDV still applies way less compression to the digital video stream stored to the digital tape and that tape is way LESS $ than flash memory. MiniDV tape continues to top the short list.
I think the Canon HG10 HD Camcorder is one of the best out there right now. It has a 1/2000 max shutter, red eye reduction, 2.7" LCD fold panel, a 40 GB hard drive, and a 10x optical zoom. It shoots amazingly life life quality video and has some great sound quality as well. Here’s some reviews on the Canon HG10.
