This is standard definition 16:9. If you recorded in HDV 720p (as the Flip MinoHD does for default), then select that. When you use the AV cables (Yellow video; red right audio; white left audio), this is analog, standard definition. Since high definition video is always - by default - widescreen, you will see the analog version of that on a standard definition TV playback in "letterbox" mode. That is the only way it will fit the video side-to-side. When you play high definition video back on an HDTV, it can fill the screen because it is in high definition format. HDTVs are always "widescreen", 16:9 aspect ratio, width. You are making this way more complex than it needs to be. There is no cropping or stretching going on.
