I am considering getting a HD camcorder and have a question?

In order to play the recorded HD footage on my HD TV will I need a Blu-Ray player or can footage recorded with a HD camcorder be played on a standard DVD player.

    Generally you can play HD footage right out of the camera to your TV set. most camcorders come with an HDMI capability.

    To put on a standard DVD, you will lose the benefit of HD. DVDs are always standard def, and putting a DVD disc recorded with AVCHD (Blu-ray) file into a regular DVD player can cause damage.

    You will have to go to Blu-ray gear to watch discs in HD.
