I’m about to buy a HD Camcorder (Canon HF20), how compatible will it be with my Computer/TV?
I’m going to buy the Canon HD HF20 on Black Friday, but I have a single core desktop at home with Windows XP. Will I be able to edit basic home movies with it? And how hard is it to get the raw footage onto a DVD? Can I record in standard definition video with an HD camcorder?

Yes. Canon VIXIA HF200 HD Flash is compatible with Windows XP. It comes Pixela ImageMixer 3SE Video Editing Software which is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista.
You can record in 1920 x 1080 Full HD recording; 24p Cinema Mode, 30p Progressive Mode.

You only can convert the HD video to standard definition video with HD Video Converter.
I recommend you a HD Video Converter which can convert HD TS, HD MTS, HD M2TS, HD MPEG, HD WMV, HD MPG, HD MP4, QuickTime HD MOV, HD H.264, HD RM video, etc.
It also can edit the HD movies, such as CUT a video clip, crop the movie, merge several files into one file and so on.
Hope it helps!
