Can my camera break in the snow bc of the cold?
Hi, I will be going to the snow in a week since I don’t live where it snows. I have a kodak Zi8 Camcorder, and I was wondering, will it freeze/break bc of how cold it is outside when its snowing? Its not like Im going to bury it in the snow, I was just wondering if the outsdie weather will damage my camera or anything. Thanks if you reply (:

I know cold weather can hurt battery performance. What type of camera you have is a factor, most point and shoot cameras are not weather resistant and so snow can be a problem even more so from the moisture than the cold.
In fact, I found a page on kodak’s website where I compared your Zi8 and the Zx1 and yours is listed as "not" weather resistant and the Zxi model is listed as weather resistant.
Below is a link that should bring up the comparison chart.
Good luck.

I cant find anything specific regarding temperature range for your vidcam. Weather resistant doesnt typically refer to temp but to moisture. A weather resistant camera has better seals to prevent moisture from entering. Even they cant be submerged in liquid though.
Ive been taking photos and videos of my daughter in the snow for years now. I dont have weather resistant equipment and Ive had no problems. I dont shoot outdoors in heavy rain or when heavy snow is actually falling. Snow or water on the ground is only a problem if you drop your camera. I shoot in light rain or snow but I seek any protection from the elements I can find. I wipe moisture off the camera often to keep it from seeping in. I keep my camera under my coat while Im not shooting.
I think if you follow a few common sense practices you would be fine.
