HD camcorder playing on a standard computer?

I want to buy a Hd camcorder but my computer cant play things in HD…can i still upload the videos iam going to record and play it in standard definition

    You may be able to do that if you use the program that comes with the camera. Most of those programs are scaled down versions of a full featured one. But it can usually get you by.

    It seems like the video camera industry is selling HD cameras faster than the consumer can keep up with his or her computer systems to make it possible to not only burn HD on DVDs, but edit too. When a video editing program shows minimum requirements, you should always double it!

    HD requires a lot of resources and your average 1-2 year old computer may not be able to handle it, like you own.

    A decent editing programme will let you do what you are wanting to, Capture the HD clips as normal & when you come to the burning stage the programme will burn them as standard or whatever you choose.
