The Zi8 records in H.264, a format that isn’t supported by WMM. There were compatibility problems with the Zi6 and video editors, so I don’t know what to recommend – sorry.

WMM supports video files asf, avi, dvr-ms, m1v, mp2, mp2v, mpe, mpeg, mpg, mpv2, wm,and wmv
change it to wmv, or avi, which is available to edit in windows movie maker.
