Good question! I have the zi8 (for my wife) and now I want one. But then I saw the Sony Bloggie I like the lens part but other than that they both record in hd. But the zi8 has a stereo mike jack while the Bloggie has only internal mono. Best bet then would be the zi8, since I used it. But wait! kodak will soon release the Playsport. It has the same inside specs as the zi8 but with easier to use buttons and can go under water to 10 feet. But it gets better! check out the "ion twin video" at uncrate.com. No specs on if its HD or not. If it is we have another contender. Bottom line. If you want HD and the option of adding great audio then go with the zi8. If the audio is not a concern and you want a lens that you will rarely use but you bought it because it looks cool ten the bloggie is your man. Wait a month and you’ll be asking, What would you buy the kodak Playsport or the Ion Twin Video. I still like the Zi8 but I like the Playsport better. If you had to buy one today get the Zi8.
I would probably choose the Sony Bloggie CM5. I think that it looks better than the zi8 and it also has the Optical Zoom. I also like the viewer. It might be best to wait for a bit to see what all of the reviews are like. The ones I have read so far say that the Bloggie has got good picture quality…. only time will tell. It would be so much cheaper to buy it in America though than over here!
