Make sure if you choose a minidv camcorder that you have a firewire port (not USB) on your pc or the capabilty of adding one. Also minidv downloads in real time so 60 mins takes 60 mins to download but some say the quality is the best with minidv. I really like my flash drive camcorder for ease of downloading and editing, I also have a minidv camcorder too. I use pinnacle studio 11 ultimate, but there are many comparable. It is able to read files from my minidv, flash drive and digital cameras and add pics to my project, all without any converting. They all use a different format.
