If it's a DVD camera you should be able to finalise the disk in the camera and then read it with your PC's DVD drive. Sony's Vegas Movie Studio is a good choice for editing, though there are many others.

Depends on the camera. Some will plug directly into a USB port or FireWire port, and others require you to plug into a TV tuner card of some sort.

Once you plug it in, you need some video editing software like Windows Movie Maker if it's a Windows PC.

you need to buy a cord that plugs into your camera and computer, you must also need video editing software (adobe premier is good). I've had trouble in the past with the software recognizing the camera so that might be a problem.

You need to get a DVD editing or conversion program.

Sony's Vegas+DVD might work.

There are a variety of conversion software that will let you go VOB file by VOB file and convert them to AVI for use in Movie Maker.

These do it right off the disk.

The alternative way is an analog capture card or dangle that then makes use of your AV cables and imports a direct AVI file.
