    Hi Toofy

You can use Microsoft Windows Movie Maker which is free. Any decent editor should allow you to control the audio level as well as to remove the audio.

You can also add music to enhance your video as well.

The first link is for for XP.
The second link is for Vista

You can use VideoSpin from pinnacle, have more features than Movie Maker, can handle a lot more file formats, is more user friendly and its free. It also have a setup for YouTube that render the video and upload it directly to your account.
