Which is better: a low-end HD or a mid-range SD camcorder?

I want to get a video camera that has good picture quality above all. I know that in my price range nothing will be perfect quality, but I want the best I can afford. So- which would be better to get: a mid-range SD camcorder (0) like the Canon FS200 or a low-end HD camcorder from someone like Flip?

I can’t decide what to ask for for christmas! (Electronic Experts please help)?

Ok so I have two set of parents, step mom and dad, step dad and mom. My mom said I could ask for one big present for christmas, like electronics. Same with my dad. I still will get a lot of other presents to, just not like stuff over 0. So basically I can get two big presents.
So heres the deal, I already have and ipod nano 4g purple, but the new nano with the video camera looks pretty cool. And having an ipod touch would be pretty amazing cuz it would have all the amazing apps on it, but i have heard that they are going to be coming out with a new one with a camera on:/ I don’t want it to get outdated right away if I get it!

Also I think having a TV at my moms house would be good because I have two other step siblings and two siblings, so I always miss my favorite shows on the premiere nights.:( Heres a link of one that looks pretty cool….I’m not sure what the quality of it is or nething.

And last but not least, having a new digital camera would be amazing. My camera right now has a memory card that doesnt really store that much, and when it takes videos it doesnt have sound:( and its kinda big, but just a little bigger than the canon ones out right now. I can’t decide weather asking for a new camera is really worth it. My little sister got a sony one last year and it broke right away, so im not sure.

If anyone could give some good advice on quality of electronics or release dates of new stuff or what you think i should ask for, Im completely open! Remember I can ask for two big electronics:D
Any answers are appreciated.
btw i have a birthday in february, so maybe i could ask for something then.

Is the Canon EOS 7D or EOS 5D Mark II worth it for video?

I am thinking about selling my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and Canon XL1s and just buying one of the above Cameras for both video and photos.

Obviously, the camera will be way better but it’s the video I’m not sure of. I’m assuming it would be considered an upgrade going from standard definition on the XL1s to 1080p HD.

Are these cameras good for video, and how is the audio on them?

Which one would you recommend?

The only difference I know is the 5D has a full sensor and more mega pixels. I do have a full sensor fish eye lens that I have yet to take full advantage of but I’m not sure if it really matters much.

Should i buy a DSLR camera?

I have wanted to buy a DSLR camera for quite some time now, but i am just wondering if i actually need one. I want a DSLR to be able to adjust functions manually to create more creative images. I love the idea of being able to swap between different lenses and have ideas of creating long exposure images for say creating motion blur on the London eye or photographing fireworks. I want to do photography as a sort of serious hobby and feel that my current point and shoot fuji camera is limiting what i can do. I am looking at a Canon eos 500D which is a semi-professional DSLR and can get this camera with a 18-55mm EF-S kit lens for £500. This camera can also record video footage in 1080p HD quality! I think i should go for it and buy one; has anyone recently changed from a compact point and shoot to a DSLR? Oh, and i have been playing with my dads Canon eos 450D for the last 2 weeks and love it and also don’t mind carrying it around with me. Any advantages and disadvantages of DSLR’s are welcome and any tips for a beginner would be even more welcome.

Kind Regards, Tom
Thanks for all your help!

Which is better the Canon HF 200 Flash or the Canon HG10?

I’m thinking of getting a new video camera and I know that I want a Canon, but I want to know which is better, the HF 200 or the HG10? I would appreciate it if some one could tell me, or if there’s a better one you can recommend.
I’m looking for a full HD (1080p) video camera that uses an internal hard drive (with lots of space) and a flash memory port. Preferably a canon or from another high quality/professional company.

What should I look for or ask when buying a used Canon HV30 HD camcorder?

I’m looking to buy a Used Canon HV30 Camcorder. I was wondering what should I look for, test, and ask when buying the camera? I would like to know to limit my chances of getting ‘ripped off’. Also, is 0 for a ‘like new’ Canon HV30 Camcorder.

Can SD memory cards film HD footage?

I am looking into buying a new camcorder because the audio on mine is crap (I have a canon ZR830, and it has terrible motor noise issues). I have taken filmmaking classes and researched online and people have mostly said to film on MiniDV tape, and I have agreed with them due to the fact that I don’t want to put all my footage (family videos etc.) on my computer. So I have decided to get a camcorder with built in memory. I really like Samsung’s SSD camcorder because of their durability and quality. I want the HMX-H100 because it is cheap, full HD, and uses an optical image stabilizer, which I have been led to believe is better than digital image stabilization, and is also easier o edit with. But unfortunately this camera has no internal storage so you have to use SD cards. This is not a problem because they are cheap, but I want to know if you can record full HD 1080p footage on them, I mean I thought they were SD? The reason I need a non-tape camera is because I will be at camps all summer and do not want to bring tape with me. Thanks.
Sorry I guess I wasn’t clear. The reason I don’t want a mini DV camcorder is because I want to just buy a whole bunch of really big memory cards, so I don’t have to be lugging around those huge mini DV tapes that only hold an hour and be constantly changing the tape.

What is the best digi-SLR, with the features I want?

Hi, I am currently using a Canon EOS Rebel XTI. I would like to upgrade and I wish for the following features, but have researched and am not sure what one to get.
In no particular order:
1.)Battery grip available. (so I can add 2nd batt for more shots)
2.)LiveView (so I can see what I shoot on the screen. )
3.)GPS Tracking ability (to see where the pic was taken)
4.)REALLY want 1080p (if possible) HD video recording, like on Canon T1i (so I can use for video and remove my camcorder from my bag)
5.)ability to attach to computer to control
6.)kinda like 5, ability to attach hard drive to record direct to USB external
7.)also last, the Sony alpha 900 has dual (2) slots for recording to, which would be nice so I don’t have to load empty cards as often.

I know this sounds like a lot of features, but hope to find a camera that will do all of this. I liked the Sony a900, but it doesn’t do video, which I really wanted. Any suggestions? Or am I asking for too many features from too many manufacturers products in one device?
Thanks!!
