I’m looking more for ease of use, internal memory (a lot of it) and most of all, the best video quality for a direct import into programs ranging from iMovie, to Final Cut.

I know there are ways around it but from what I understand, when burning to a DVD it converts it to SD format anyway. (Unless I went the blue ray route. Which I don’t want to do) So, is it pointless to get a HD camcorder if i’ll never end up seeing the video in HD. Or is it a better quality because it was shot in HD regardless of the fact that it was converted to SD?

I want to purchase a brand new PC or Mac to get the job done (since my current PC is a 6-year-old 1Ghz Athlon dinosaur). Should I stay on PC platform, or should I switch to Mac? Either way, what is the spec of the computer I should get? I appreciate your sharing of your own experience!
