I know it DEPENDS on 101 different factors but I only need some rough info.

My camera viewing screen shows the picture breaking up into little segments and the message (needs head cleaning)appears.I tried a cartridge cleaner that came with a regular film cartridge and it didn’t help. I can’t find a camera shop that will talk to me about this.
I called the JVC number several times to no avail. Also I talked to 2 different JVC repair centers and still haven’t had any success in answering my problem. The camera is model GRDVL500U,and was purchased 11/30/2000.Any suggestions will be appreciated.I think that the new digital cameras have put the camera repair shops out of business,at least in my local area.

I opened Windows Movie Maker and went to "Import Video" but couldn’t find anything relating to getting it from a camera. Just from a file.

So I went out and bought a Fire Wire IE 1394 Cable. I plugged it into my camera, then the computer. It all fits. The camera’s on. But…now what? Nothing popped up. And Windows Movie Maker is open. Where do I go from here?

I have NO manual for the video camera (a Sony Mini DV Digital Video Camera) and NO manual for software. No manual, period.

If someone could throw at me the steps as to where I go and what I click, now that everything’s plugged in, that’d be awesome.
