I recently took up photography, but would also like to try making videos. I don’t know what to look for in a video camera. I’m talking about the technical specs. Explanations on everything I should look at when buying a camera. Whats the best recording format? Is 1080p worth it? What else effects quality of a video? What has the best colors? Stabilizers? What am I talking about basically. I like to know everything I can before making a big purchase. I plan on editing the videos when needed depending on what I record.

I forgot to add budget. I’d like to stick with no more than 0, but i could possibly go up to 00.

I also have a VERY powerful computer (i’m a nerd and built my own computer. Constantly upgrading to the best technology when I have the money). Decompressing won’t take long. But I know its best to just have the least compression possible.

What would you say is better to get in general? list some pros and cons for each. and Can you use an HD camera to put videos on youtube?

I need good free software that can convert videos to iPod video format (MP4). I tried some software, but I ended up with a converted video that has the audio and video off sync, which is very annoying to deal with during a 2 hour movie.

I edit videos with Sony Vegas Premium and when i slow down a clip the audio doesnt really get that deep like in windows movie maker. Please Help and thank you!

i have a kodak zi8 camcorder and when i upload my videos to youtube the turn out really small on 1080p
so then i try 720 by 60p
and it puts black bars on the top + bottom
and i make my videos mp4’s on my macintosh
i just need to know how to upload the video making them take up all the space

ps. i export videos from imovie to quiktime in mp4

Would like to know brand and why you think it’s the best.

Also would like to know how long the videos of the camera are. Like if you take a video of something is 10 mins long or 30 mins long.

Can i still transfer videos recorded on the mini-dv tape to the pc ?

A few weeks ago I bought a Hitatchi Video recorder that uses the rewriteable mini DVD’s. I have the 5 fully used mini DVD’s that I need to store on my computer so I can burn 1 single DVD for everyone. Since there is no USB for this thing its making it hard. On my PC I can view the mini DVD’s on my DVD-Rom drive which is a rewriteable also.

Can anyone help me on how to do this?

I just bought a Sony HD camcorder (HDR SR10) but the quality of the videos are very grainy even though the resolution is 1920×1080. When I go outside where its very bright, the quality is very good but when I’m in my living room, where there’s a decent amount of light, the quality’s really grainy. Is this normal?
